Cold

P had his first cold. It of course turned into an ear infection. The cold part wasn't too bad. He was just a little grumpy. And tired, but didn't want to/ couldn't sleep unless he was being held or laying on top of someone. This sick behavior, he gets from me. I'm a total wimp when I'm sick. I need lots of attention, sympathy, and taking care of. Andrew, however, doesn't even mention that he's not feeling well until he's really sick. So we gave the little man lots of cuddling. We let him sleep with us at night. And we got to sleep with his vaporizer. He started feeling better on the forth day and even played a little. But that night, the poor little guy woke up at 3am to eat. He ate and then cried/ screamed for the next two hours. Then he slept badly for two hours and cried/ moaned for two more hours. It was awful. There's nothing worse (that I'm aware of) than watching your baby it horrible pain and not being able to help him. So I called the doctor. We decided the only thing that could bring this sweet child who doesn't cry to such crying had to be an ear infection. We were right. Thankfully it is only in one ear and the antibiotic is working its magic fast. He's back to his non-crying talkative little self, except that he's mostly sleeping. Which, incidentally, is what I do when I've got an ear infection. And of course, now I've got a cold. I have to say here, that if Porter's throat felt anything like mine does, he's one tough baby!

So I think we did good, the three of us. We made it through the first baby sickness. There were rough moments, but that was the sleep deprivation. Now we're all close to catching up on all that.

So up next, we're going to try to get the living room done in the next few weekends.

***Before the weather decided it was indeed January and it should be cold, we went to the zoo with Aunt Bree and Madi. This is the explanation for the above picture. I think double strollers, even though they are practical, are funny in a ridiculous kind of way. And a pain in the a*@ to push.
